Overview
The Bering 50 is the first trawler in the Expedition Series. As the series name implies, it possesses the "traditional" trawler look now so familiar to the recreational marine market. But while the Bering 50 may share a similar aesthetic to other traditional looking trawlers, that's where the similarities end. This heavy displacement motor yacht, whose hull form is derived from the proven ocean going commercial trawler, excels in the areas that matter most: a sea-kindly motion in heavy weather, reliability and ultimate seaworthiness of design.

Beyond using a proven hull design, the entire Bering line relies on a "heavy for size" approach to providing the uncommon sea-kindly motion that very few if any recreational motor yachts are capable of delivering. A carefully designed low center of gravity combined with the sheer mass of the vessel provides a reduction in roll moment and minimized pitching and pounding that so many find unpleasant. This "heavy for size" approach is well proven in the commercial marine market where vessel "weight" is really how one defines a vessel's size as opposed to length. Note that the Bering 50 displaces 115,000 pounds at full load, nearly double most competitors!

While at sea, one's peace of mind is of utmost importance, which is why in addition to the hull & structural design Bering puts great emphasis on the reliability & durability of their motor yachts. The strict use of only commercially rated and internationally sourced equipment on board ensures you will have minimal equipment related problems, and in the rare case that you do, parts will be readily available regardless of your locale.

A semi-custom build approach allows for true customization of the interior layout and appointments. The Bering 50 can be configured either as a 2 stateroom layout with an impressive full-beam master stateroom aft or as a 3 stateroom layout that provides private living space for a larger number of people aboard. If you prefer to have dedicated crew aboard then separate crew quarters can be configured into the Bering 50 as well.

The Bering 50 offers her owners flexibility of use. For example, with its modest draft & bridge clearance it can explore the Great Loop route along the Eastern seaboard and down the Mississippi. Likewise, given its offshore capability and impressive tank capacities, the Bering 50 can also make long open ocean passages, allowing her owners to explore distant shores not available to lesser boats.

Hull
Hull and superstructure made of marine steel A-36. Bottom plates and integrated tanks - 8mm, sides-6mm, superstructure- 5mm, four watertight bulkheads
Fly bridge and mast are fiberglass.
For preparing plastic fly bridge adapts the vacuum technology of extrusion. Fly bridge lamination for strength, vinyl ester resin is used on first 3 layers, for anti osmosis protection.
Steel superstructure and plastic fly bridge joint by bolts and sealant for best structural integrity.
